When King Hezekiah reigned, he called in the people of Israel to celebrate the feasts of Passover and unleavened bread. Unfortunately, most of the priests were not in a ritually clean state in the first month, so they agreed to hold to the Passover provision of the second month. The priests went around to call on the people, but most laughed at them. Some, however, humbled themselves and went up to Jerusalem. Many of the people were not in the right state to sacrifice their own lambs, so the priests did it for them, yet the people still ate of it. Hezekiah prayed that God would see their hearts longing for Him and overlook this disobedience, and God did. After the week had finished, they decided to continue for yet another week. After this, there were efforts made to better align with God’s commands for the priests and the feasts.
