In Gen 13, we see a few examples of Abraham (then Abram) living a life of generosity. Namely, he notices quarreling between he and his nephews staff, and allows his nephew, Lot, to choose whichever land he would prefer, then go the other way. Ultimately, God rewards this by promising the land of Israel to him and keeping him safe as opposed to Sodom, where Lot chose to live.

After this, we see Abram save Lot and, rather than keeping us spoils, only requests that the debt be forgiven for what they had already taken in food and resources, and whatever his cohorts requested. Further, he gives Melchizedek 10% or everything he already owned. God rewards this with the promise of a covenant and earthly offspring through which he would bless the earth.
