The story of Abraham and Isaac in Gen 21 is one of infamy. It details how Abraham finally receives his son of promise. Sarah was taken by a king (part 2) because she was thought to be Abraham’s sister. After it was found that no one could have children, and a dream came to the king, she was returned and Abraham was given wealth, land, and servants lest the king die at the hand of God. Immediately thereafter, Sarah becomes pregnant. From the timeline, this story took place over the span of about 3 months.
When Isaac had grown a bit, Hagar and Ishmael were sent away. A little while later, Abraham is rested and asked to offer Isaac as a sacrifice. God holds him back and ultimately provides a ram in Isaac’s place.
