In 1 Cor 10, Paul talks about eating food sacrificed to idols. While the idol means nothing, he argues that eating of the sacrifice makes you a part of the practice, just as eating of God’s sacrifices makes you a part of that process. While he has qualm with this in principle, he makes the case that it is not beneficial - doing more harm to your witness than good to your soul. We are allowed to eat as we please, so long as we do it to the LORD, but not everything we eat is constructive.
