In Ezekiel 14, God speaks of his judgement and how none except the righteous should be spared. However, he then discusses how he plans to leave a few so that we may see a witness as to how judge the judgement was (v23, “you will know that nothing was done without cause”).

In chapters 15 and 16, he describes why he judges Israel. He starts by saying they were like a child of heathens left for dead. They were covered in blood, naked, and still had their cord. They squirmed in agony on the side of the road. God came and brought them back to life. He set them up to grow. When he returned, he found Israel still naked but now of an age appropriate for love. He clothed Israel in fine garments and made her a queen. She was known across the world. However, Israel then took the jewelry given to her and made it into idols. Took of her ornate clothes and put it in the idols. Took God’s children and sacrificed them to the same idols. Further still, she was like a prostitute who insisted on paying her suiters, standing on every street corner and begging for promiscuity (16:32-34). It is for this reason that God judges them; for this he divorces Israel (v38).

Be reminded of this and live as one who God has honored. A saved wretch who was made a ruler. Honor God as he has already honored you! Do not seek after the world - don’t even allow the world to seek after you - but love God.
