In 2 Chron 32, we see the king of Assyria approach. He mocks God and says that he has defeated nation after nation and that none of their gods could stop him; how then would the God of Hezekiah do so? Hezekiah responds with building defenses and prayer. Day and night, Assyria continually lambasts the Jews, mocking those on the city walls and insulting God. Finally, God sends an angel to comply annihilate the Assyrians. The king leaves in disgrace and is killed by his sons when he returns home.
