Written during the same time as Ezra (Ez 5:1) somewhere between 538 and 515 BCE
Now the prophets, Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel who was over them.

- God claims His Love for His children but hears back only that He loved other people more
- God reminds them that He chose Israel
- Where is the child’s Love toward their father? Where is the honor given to a King? (v5-6)
- By offering blemished animals (v7)
- An earthly king wouldn’t accept it, why would God? (v10)
- I am not pleased and will not accept these offerings (v10)
- Your actions make my table common and the offerings are despicable (v12)
- You say “its too hard” and bring lame, blind, stolen, or sick animals as an offering when you had perfectly healthy animals to offer from your own flock (v13-14)
- Judgement and curses are coming, that you will know that the covenant still stands
- Deut 30:19-20, today I lay before you blessings and curses … choose life! Live in the Love of God!
