Matt 26 details the judgement of Jesus. In it, we see an example of what not to do in Peter. He denies even knowing Jesus - much less being a follower of him - three times. This is somewhat of an echo of the golden calf, wherein the children of Israel grow tired of waiting for Moses. They had just witnessed God reducing them from Egypt, walked on dry land across a sea, and heard God himself declared the 10 commandments. Their response was to worship God in their own way, turning from what he had just told them: to not worship idols.
In life, we need to remain vigilant and ensure we worship God in all of our actions. We should never allow our own judgements of how to worship God get on the way of actually worshiping him.
