Lechem Panim - “Bread of the Presence” - Bread of the face of God

In the 1611 KJV, this was termed “shoe bread” and now is commonly “show bread.” However, the Hebrew is “the bread of the presence.”

Ultimately, this table represents Jesus. He is near to God and He is our bread. He is our sustainer, our provider.

There are 12 stacks of bread - 2 stacks of 6, one per tribe of Israel, and is near to God’s thrown. Every day (excluding Sabbath), bread is given to them in the wilderness (manna). This table is a reminder of the fact that God provides.

Important

Note that there is no 13th stack of bread for the Gentiles. God’s people are Israel.
