In John 7, Jesus proclaims on the Last Great Day that he was the living water from whom, if we drink, we will never thirst again and that rivers of life will flow from our hearts. This would have been during the water libation ceremony. This speaks of the holy spirit coming upon us.
In Joshua 11, an army of many nations approaches (“as numerous as the sand on the seashore”) Israel at the Merom sea. God tells Joshua that he will slay them all and leave none behind. Joshua, indeed, completely abolishes them without mercy, as God had commanded. In Rev 20, we see a mirror of this when the beast is set free for a short time. During that time, Satan will amass an army and the number of people in that army is mentioned to be “as many as the sands on the shore,” (the same as in Joshua). God will send fire to burn up and completely destroy that army. After that is the judgement at the Great White Throne and the second death for those who are condemned.
This is, of course, reminiscent of the promise to Abram, where God promises him to make his children as numerous as the stars in the sky and the sand on the shore.
