In Numbers 9, we see a model set before us. If this world and life are our version of the wilderness, the pillar of cloud and fire is the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives; when he moves, we must move. The children of Israel, the Bible says, followed the cloud whether it moved after years or just a few hours,m and whether it moved during the day or at night. We, too, should have this willingness to follow God. We are to stay when he says to stay and move when he says to move.

In Mark 13, Jesus tells us of the end of times and there is a similar theme. When we see the abomination of desolation, we are the move. We shouldn’t even stop to get things out of our homes. We should be watchful and expectant of the will of God to move in us, then obey.
