Several of the words picked in the King James version were chosen with the explicit intent of making use of “ecclesiastical” terms. The protestants preferred words like “congregation” or “washing” while the Anglicans opted for “Church” and “baptism,” respectively. The Anglicans wanted to shift even further as they completely rejected the Pope, and even man, having any say in what the church service looked like (they used “assembly” in place of “Church”). Ultimately, the Anglican verbiage won.
