The number 7 is very substantial in the bible. It is generally considered to represent “perfection” or “completion,” largely coming from the idea that on the 7th day of creation, God considered all creation to be completed.
A few places where we see this number:
- 7 days per week, with the 7th day, itself, being the Sabbath
- 7 days of Creation
- 7 Feasts of the LORD
- 7 lights on the menorah
- 7 attributes of God
- 7 eyes that see the earth (Rev 5:6)
- 7 Spirits of God
- 7 Churches in Asia (Revelation 1-4)
- 7 horns & 7 eyes (Rev 5:6)
- 7 thunders (Rev 8:2)
- 7 trumpets (Rev 10:3-4)
- 7 crowns on the dragon (Rev 12:3)
- 7,000 people die (Rev 11:13)
- 7 Bowls of wrath (Rev 15:7, 16:1)
- 7 Plagues of wrath (Rev 15:1, 8, 16:1-21)
- 7 Mountains (Rev 17:9)
- 7 days, priests, and marches around Jericho (Josh 6)
