The dedication of Solomon’s Temple in 1 Kings 8 is interesting. He kneels before the temple and raises his hands to the sky. He then prays for God to recognize this as a home on earth, despite knowing that God cannot be contained in heaven, much less earth. He asks that any who looks toward the temple with a contrite heart be heard of God and forgiven. This sets the stage for Manasseh later on, as we see that God makes good on this. God always seeks repentance over sacrifice.
