Mannaseh was the son of King Hezekiah and became king at the age of 12. He undid all of the good that his father had done. He was proud and worshiped other gods: the Sun the Moon, and placed idols in God’s Temple. As a result, God allowed Assyria - who his father had defeated - to come back in and to take Israel captive. The king of Assyria placed hooks in his nose and bound him in prison. From there, and with no access to a temple, Manasseh prayed to God for forgiveness and God forgave him with no sacrifice necessary. He was then restored and brought back to his kingdom as king. From then he knew that God was the Lord.
