In Numbers 9, we see some rules for Passover. The ones I find most interesting are the provisions for the people. God wants them to partake so, in the event that they cannot celebrate (not “don’t” but “can’t”), they may celebrate a month later. This, to me, implies that God is not unreasonable with us so long as he sees a concerted effort. This, in my opinion, is what sets Christianity apart from other religions. God sees our intention and desire and judges based on that. While the Golden Calf teaches us that there are limits to that grace, we still see flexibility here, so long as it is not abused and, rather, is necessary. God wants to spend time with us but, more importantly, he wants us to want to spend time with him.

The second interesting thing in this passage is in verse 14, where even Gentiles are commanded to keep the Passover. God has always wanted to be the LORD of the earth, not just the Jews .
