In Exodus 29, God institutes the morning and evening sacrifices. They are to be whole burnt offerings, meaning the entire animal is burned, leaving nothing for the priests. This is symbolic in that no part of sin is acceptable. All of it must be rid from us. This was to be done every morning and every night, along with the finest flour and finest oil and finest wine. God not only asks that all the sin be gone, he asks for our best. This was a constant reminder to bring our best to God and, further, that our sins must be paid for in blood. God takes sin extremely seriously, as it is the only thing separating us from God and the only thing that forces him to kill his crown of creation. He sees it as his worst enemy.
