Why that shape? Why the horns?
The horns are not demonic. Horns in a biblical mindset represent strength, like an ox. Even the first letter of their alphabet was originally an ox.
The earth is spoken of as having four corners, the cardinal directions. So then, alter represents God’s presence, and strength, reaching to the four corners of the earth.
Lev 6 specifies three times that the fire must never go out. Godv himself it this fire (Lev 9) and never leaves us. The fire again comes from God in the second temple, 2 Chron 7:1-3.
