The Most Holy City

Mount Sinai

God tells us he will dwell with us. He wants relationship with us!

We’ve seen the spirit of the letter of the truth:

  • The curtain before the Most Holy Place representing the Cherubim
  • The Panim, our bread of life
  • The menorah, being a light to the world
  • The alters of sacrifice and incense
  • Even the dust of the temple
  • The brazen basin (laver) cleansing us of death
  • The arc being God’s throne and the sheep & goats on his sides
  • The Torah, in the heart of the throne of God and upon our hearts
  • The anointing oil

The Wife

The high priest must marry a virgin. No one else, even other priests, has this commandment. What is the spirit of this? The Bride (us), the 144,000, the pure that God keeps pure and faithful for himself (Rev 14, 17). The ones who worship in spirit and truth (John 4:24). Matt 25 states that we must be ready!

The New Jerusalem

Just as the Most Holy Place was a cube (Ex 26 results in 10x10x10 cubits for the holy place, ref), so is the new city. Its wall was 1441 cubits tall, wide, and long and the city was 12,000 (~1380 miles). The Holy of Holies points to this new, most holy city, where we will literally dwell with God. Rev 21 & 22 discuss this city. In this city, there is no temple because the whole city is the dwelling place of God (Rev 21:22).

Rev 21:3 ESV 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.

Footnotes

  1. The volume of the ark of the covenant (the only item in the Most Holy Place) was 5.625 cubic cubits (1½ x 1½ x 2½). The volume of the interior of the Most Holy was 810 cubic cubits (9 x 9 x 10). Dividing this volume of the Most Holy by the volume of the ark of the covenant produces exactly the number 144, a number relating to the church.
